- My World Fantasy Convention Schedule • October 30, 2007
Tomorrow morning, I get on a plane and head for upstate New York for the World Fantasy Convention 2007. It will be my first World Fantasy ever, if you don’t count the one where the World has me tied up to a four-poster bed and we’re having a menage a trois with the Moon.
I will [...]
- “Full Metal Jacket”: The Jungian Thing • October 29, 2007
Nobody seems to be paying attention to the fact that 2007 marks the 20th anniversary of Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket." Which is a shame, because "Full Metal Jacket" is one of the most meticulously crafted films of the past 20 years. I think it's damn near perfect.
- Transferring ISPs… • October 29, 2007
…so things may be a wee bit rocky with the website for a day or two.
- The New Cover for “Infoquake” • October 25, 2007
As I mentioned the other day when I unveiled the final cover for "MultiReal," the great Stephan Martiniere is also doing the cover for Solaris' mass market paperback release of "Infoquake." Well, wait no longer. Here's the final version of the new cover.
- How Does the Story End? • October 21, 2007
On DeepGenre today: inspired by my thinking as I write the concluding volume of the Jump 225 trilogy, I’ve posted a meditation on how stories end, and why they end, and what the purpose of ending a story is in the first place. Using Batman as a metaphor, of course.

I mentioned that Pyr was moving in a new direction for the "MultiReal" cover art. Well, feast your eyes on the final cover of "MultiReal," hitting bookshelves early summer 2008.
- Capclave 2007 Wrap-up • October 14, 2007
I’m of two minds about my experience at this year’s Capclave in Rockville, MD.
From a promotional standpoint, it might seem like the weekend was a disaster. My reading was slotted Saturday at 11:30 pm, and therefore rather sparsely attended. My book wasn’t available in the dealer’s room, as far as I could tell. And my [...]
- Ann Coulter and "Perfect" Faith • October 12, 2007
It’s a lovely, blustery October day here in Washington, DC, and I am peering into my magic crystal ball which shows me the future. What are you discussing next week? What is every newspaper and TV news show talking about 24/7? The crystal ball says we will all be discussing Ann Coulter telling Donny Deutsch [...]
- My Capclave 2007 Schedule • October 9, 2007
This weekend, I’ll be attending Capclave, the largest Washington, DC-area science fiction convention. I’ve got three panels, plus a reading and a signing.
The reading time they’ve assigned to me is the plum spot of 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night. The Capclave organizers originally had me scheduled in a joint reading at 5 pm alongside [...]
- Reinventing E-mail • October 8, 2007
Not only has email software not evolved in the past 10 years, it's actually moved backwards. Clients like Mozilla Thunderbird are dying, and Google seems to be the only company pushing email innovation. What can be done to fix this sorry state of affairs?
