David, loved your list. It came in handy as I'm at a stage where the book is hitting the printing press and time for me to start the promotional activities. Thanks for taking the time to list down all the ideas and especially talking about what has worked and what has not worked. Cheers.

Just finished getting my book published and now I'm in the promotion stage, it will be tougher for me because it's not a story but just my writings, but this certainly is making me more familiar with how this market works. Thanks for your advice.

Thank you so much for this information. I've self published a book on www.lulu.com called 'Tales of the unexploded' and it's trickling out a few books a month. I've read lots of other sites about how to promote a book but they usually are a scam or link to a site selling a book about "how to promote your book". So it was refreshing to see some obviously honest comments, very useful. I shall get to work straight away.

This was an interesting post. I've been trying to promote the fantasy book I'm writing called "Godblood." I plan on releasing it as an ebook before I release it as a physical book, but I'm trying to build up an audience before it's released. I created a blog about it [LINK] and I'm going to promote it on social networks, but I still have very few viewers. I'm in the process of designing a website for it and learning XHTML along the way, but I still don't have many followers. I'm currently almost finished with the first draft, and I plan to use many of these tips to help promote it. Right now, I'm working on SEO.

Victoria: Only if you're interested in having people read it.

Can't really get on Amazon without a publisher, I think.

[...] How Sci Fi writer David Louis Edelman promoted his book, and the lessons he learned. This is “old,” but still thought-provoking, if not a little…daunting. The freshest in culture. Featured on PopPressed If You Haven't Yet Seen "Win Win," You Should Go See It LikeBe the first to like this post. [...]
