I love Martiniere's work. He heavily influences some of the new born babes of sci-fi art nursery. But nope, can't beat the real thing. Nu-uh!

He also did a cover for Variable Star by Robert A. Heinlein and Spider Robinson. It actually looks similar to this one with the circular structures to the left and placement of other geometric shapes while having a character in thought in the foreground. Not too much though. I grabbed it from the shelf to compare even though his site is bookmarked.

I'll shuddup now! I'm really looking forward to MultiReal. Guh, I'm giddy after typing so much now. I'm a girl though, so I'm excused. =P

Karl: Martiniere actually offers prints for sale on his own website, if nowhere else: http://www.martiniere.com/booksprints.htm

It looks fantastic! You know how much of a fan of Martiniere's I am. The other day I stumbled across a website that sells high-quality posters of his covers, and I was just going to put the link in here, but I can't find it again! How frustrating!

I loved that my characters Venera and Garth were on the cover of Queen of Candesce, by the way. For me, that gives me an extra special link to the image.

So the mermaids didn't make it onto the cover after all... ;-(
Very nice. I've yet to see a Pyr cover I didn't like.

Congratulations, Dave. I love seeing an illustrators perspective on my writing. It's a little like work with a designer or director in theater...and seeing the work become real.

Talking of which...I just received my first advance copy of my newest book. It looks amazing. Great illustrator (it's a picture book call A very Improbable Story). Of course, for some reason, on Amazon, it's called a Very Improbable Store

Check it out here:

The cover is pretty awesome. It's beyond an incremental improvement from Infoquake... it takes it to another level.
