The search feature is a disimprovement on XP too. You can't select filetypes or folders from a drop-down menu anymore, which means you can't search for a folder with a specific name. I know you can search for a file type using its extension, but its just less convenient.

Vista is perhaps the worst client OS ever produced. Unfinished, obtuse, restrictive, and filled with bloatware like Indexing and Search, and UAC. The architecture of the OS depends on huge cache, and turbo memory is simply a USB-based page file - because it's such a resource hog that no one can use it beyond basic Office functionality. I will never buy another Microsoft Client OS again - and that's a fact (after 15 years of loyalty); and yes, that also influences my decision re: purchasing and licensing and product placement within my company, which is huge. Prediction is that MS will continue to do what it does, which is spam product and create cross-licensing dependencies, especially around CAL's. For the simple customer, if you have to have Windows, do yourself a favor and buy an Apple and (if you must) run it in bootcamp mode.

Thank you so much for such a brief description of the many vista desktop goodies, but i'd like to know more details of the requirements inorder to use them on a computer. I have heard that other blogs are surporting the idea that vista 3d flip, aero transparency, sidebars, and other vista features usually slows the computers down. ,...but anyway, I'm glad I've found quite a lot of features i've never known before.Thanx..!!

What's wrong i have on 3 of my systems, programs that tell me i have incompatibal hardwere/software work fine, theres a few glitch's. but there again whth such an advance GUI (Graphical User Interface) ofcorse theres going to be problems, rember XP? rember how many updates there was at the begging in 2003 ( i think ) loads of them. then they released a SP2 and remade the cd and Haypresto! most off all the updates go, theres only something like 80 now, so give vista a year or so and we will have an awsome OS!

I have had vista for about a month now. I like most of the ideas overall. But, lately so many things have gone wrong with it! A driver has stoped working. I think another stoped working today too. Right click stops working randomly. Makes for computer use useless. Thats frusterating. And the computer shuts itself down randomly for an "unexpected issue". that is frusterating. And those popups that ask if you want to run something? pointless. One would be fine. But 3, 4, 5? Thats terrible. I think bad outweighs the good on this one I'm sorry to say.

I have had Vista for 3 weeks. # WEEKS TOO LONG> It Suks bananas. Check out the new SOUND RECORDER (L A M E )
All of a sudden the CD DRIVE lost its driver.
All of a sudden the files are becoming fragmented like an ant farm.
CANNOT BURN CD's with their ROXIO CRAP.
MICROSOFT WORD 2007 cannot embed sOUND FILES PROPERLY.
word 2007 DISPLAY AND CHOICES SUK bad!
vISTA IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MY 300 Dollar EPSON CD imprinter. (and EPSON Doesn't know how to fix it)
ON and ON..........flip is KOOL but who cares.
FK the latest internet offers that pop up all the friggin time.
VISTA OS works itself to death and doesn't load fast enough.
